Castles & Country Houses, Museums & Art Centres
Ducale Palace is a group of palace-buildings, built between the 14th and the 17th century for the ducal family of Gonzaga, where they lived from 1328 until their extinction in 1707. It has been converted into a museum in the 20th century.
There are many inner courts and gardens, whereas the interior houses many masterpieces such as the Baroque paintings by Pieter Paul Rubens, the Camera Picta by the Renaissance artist Andrea Mantegna and the late-gothic frescos by Pisanello (15th century)
