Greenbank Garden
Castles & Country Houses, Event, Film & Wedding Hire, Gardens & Parks
Greenbank Garden is surrounding Greenbank House, which was built in 1763 for Robert Allason, who has made his fortune in the American colonies. Unfortunately he was obliged to sell the property later.
Thereafter Greenbank has had several owners until it was acquired in 1962 by Wiliam Blyth. He and his spouse transformed the garden into the ornamental gardens as we see today. The couple donated the house and 6.5 ha (16 acres) to the National Trust in 1976, whereas the family donated an additional 8 ha (20 acres) to the Trust in 1981.
The beautiful gardens contain around 3000 species of flowers.
Greenbank Garden is also a venue for corporate and private events, such as receptions, weddings...
