Monuments & Sites, Museums & Art Centres
The Sansevero Chapel Museum (Museo Cappella Sansevero) dates back to 1590 but was embellished in the 18th century by Raimondo di Sangro, seventh Prince of Sansevero (1710 – 1771). He was an architect, inventor, soldier, writer, scientist, alchemist and freemason.
The chapel contains almost thirty important works of art and enigmatic creations such as the 'Veiled Truth', by Antonio Corradini, and the 'Anatomical Machines'. The 'Veiled Truth' was commissioned by Raimondo di Sangro as a memorial for his mother.
