Aichberg Castle
In its long existence the castle has changed hands many times. The Knights of Aichberg resided here until the late 14th century. Thereafter it was owned by the Counts von Steinpeiss until 1772, who were succeeded by a series of owners such as Baron von Waidmannsdorf, Johann Edmond Nobleman von Erko, the paper dealer Donat Hartmann, the state-counsellor von Müller-Hornstein, and the Counts von Wimpffen.
In 1906 the castle was sold to the Greek Prince Ypsilanti, whereas between 1923 and 1929 large parts of the property were sold. Slowly the castle fell into decay and served even as a refuge for the civilian population and as quarters for the German Army, during WW II.
Today, Schloss Aichberg is also a venue for events and offers guest accommodation with 2 cosy apartments.
