Augustusburg and Falkenlust were built as a 'Maison de Plaisance' and Hunting Lodge for the Archbishop-Elector Clemens August of Bavaria, early 18th century. Both palaces are connected by extended landscape gardens remodelled by Lenné in the 19th century.
The palaces have beautiful interiors. The magnificent staircase of Augustusburg was designed by Neumann.
Augustusburg is also a venue for the well known Brühl Palace Concerts.
The palaces can be visited by guided tours.
