Barenboim-Said Akademie

Music
Barenboim-Said Academy, offers both a Bachelor of Music degree and Artist Diploma program in all orchestral instruments, piano, composition, and conducting, for YOUNG MUSICIANS from the Middle East, North Africa and around the world.

The academy opened its doors on December 8, 2016

The accredited, four-year undergraduate Bachelor degree provides the depth of intense professionally-oriented music studies alongside a broad introduction to the humanities. The post-graduate Artist Diploma program prepares pre-professional musicians to embark on a performing career, combining high-level music studies with electives in the humanities.

Graduates will not only be trained to become musicians but much more than that. They will have the responsibility, by being educators, community leaders, artists to shape the future of civil societies in their own countries.

These studies are based on the spirit of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, founded by Daniel Barenboim and his friend the literary theorist and intellectual Edward Said. (see website; https://www.west-eastern-divan.org)

The public concerts are given in the Pierre Boulez Saal. (see website: https://boulezsaal.de/home)
