Antiques & Art Galleries
Berko Fine Paintings, with a gallery in Knokke-Zoute, specializes in 19th century and early 20th century European paintings.

The gallery´s main area of interest and research is 19th century Belgian painting, and it has issued various publications on this subject. Berko Fine Paintings covers the main genres of the 19th century: animal paintings, seascapes, genre scenes, flower paintings and still-lifes, as well as landscapes, vedutas and Belle-Epoque scenes.

Born into a family of antiques dealers, Patrick Berko has always been passionate about European Academic, Realist and Orientalist painting, the 19th century Romantic School and the Belle Epoque. He and his wife Viviane, also an art specialist, have opened galleries in Knokke-Le Zoute (1976), Paris (1978), Brussels (1983), Antwerp (1984), New York (1987), Tokyo (1989) and Shanghai (2008), but the gallery in Knokke-Le Zoute remains their primary location. Assisted by their children Maximin and Irina, and her husband, Count Nicolas de Waziers, they participate regularly in prestigious art fairs in cities such as Brussels, Paris, Maastricht, Palm Beach, Monaco, Moscow, London, New York and Shanghai. The gallery attracts both seasoned collectors and enthusiastic art amateurs. They have published several reference books including The Dictionary of Belgian Painters born between 1750 and 1875, other works devoted to flower and animal painters and numerous monographs. Their latest reference book was 19th Century European Virtuoso Painters.
