Boughton House

Boughton House is one of the seats of the Duke of Buccleuch, and famous for its beauty, its art collections and grounds. It is often referred to as The English Versailles. 

The art collections include furniture, tapestries, porcelain, carpets, armoury and paintings such as The Adoration of the Shepherds by El Greco and works of Gainsborough, Van Dyck and John Wooton. 

In 2012 unknown works of Italian baroque composers, including by Vivaldi, were discovered in the Montagu Music Collection at Boughton. From 2014, Boughton has been the venue for music festivals.

The park, in the 'Dutch style in England' by the Dutch gardener Van der Meulen, dates from 1695, when the House was rebuild. 

Boughton House is a venue for cultural and private events such as concerts, weddings, corporate activities and organised groups. The House also opens on specific dates for guided tours.

The present Duke, Richard Walter John Montagu Douglas Scott, 10th Duke of Buccleuch and 12th Duke of Queensberry, is one of the UK's largest private landowners.

The Duke owns other estates such as Bowhill House and Drumlanrig Castle in Scotland.

Boughton House is also a venue for film & photo shooting, field sports, cultural, corporate and private events, such as concerts, receptions, weddings...
