He brought together a stunning collection of paintings, prints, a library and a coin collection. Having no male heir, he disposed that his entire estate was to be placed in the custody of the Evangelical Church of Sibiu while the palace presenting his collections to be open for the public. The collections were officially opened to the public in 1817.
