Castle Goseck, today a European Centre for Music and Culture, has a long history which dates back to 881 and has served as original seat of the Counts of Saxony, monastery and estate of many noble families.
The last private owner Count von Zech-Burkersroda, had to leave the estate after the communist Land-Reform. Since 1997 it is the hands of “Stiftung Dome und Schlösser in Sachsen-Anhalt” which is revitalising the site by its cultural activities such as concerts and the permanent exhibition of the 500 years of the Benedictine monastery's history.
