Castle Neschwitz was built during the first half of the 18th century as a summer residence for Duke Württemberg-Teck and his wife, Princess Ursula Katharina von Teschen, mistress of Augustus the Strong. Today it is used for cultural and private events such as concerts, exhibitions and marriages.

The Duke replaced the former water castle with a castle complex, including nine axis and four pavilions. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful French style Baroque garden, which adjoins an English landscape park.

There is a permanent exhibition, which displays the history and life of the last private owners, the Barons von Vietinghof Riesch. The chateau hall holds a display of Pompeii style murals and the "Small gallery" hosts temporary exhibitions of contemporary art.
