Château de la Napoule
Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
The Château de la Napoule, now a museum and art centre, dates back to the 14th century, and was constructed by the de Villeneuve family. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful garden, in traditional French- and English landscape style.
In 1918 the neglected castle was acquired by the American artist, art loving and art collecting couple Henry and Marie Clews. They restored, extended and embellied the castle and garden.
On bequest of Marie Clews in 1951, Château de la Napoule was handed over to the La Napoule Art Foundation on order to become a museum and art centre with its permanent collections, expositions, concerts, theatre performances, including residences for artists.
