The Church of Our Lady Bruges (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk) dates from the 13 - 15th centuries, and contains the famous marble sculpture of the Madonna and Child, made by Michelangelo, as well as numerous paintings, 13th-century painted sepulchres and the tombs of Mary of Burgundy and Charles the Bold.

Michelangelo’s sculpture was purchased in Italy by two merchants from Brugge, the brothers Jan and Alexander Mouscron, and in 1514 donated to the church.
