Château de Castelnau-Bretenoux
Castles & Country Houses, Music
Château de Castelnau-Bretenoux, dating back to 860, was modified during the 15th and 16th centuries. The castle, open to the public, contains an important collection of furniture and objets d'art from its last private owner, the artist Jean Mouliérat, a tenor at the Opéra-Comique.
The castle, which was destroyed by a fire in 1851, was restored and brought into live again by Jean Mouliérat between 1896 and 1932. He donated the property to the state after his death.
The courtyard of the castle is used for the Saint-Céré music festival in summer (see also: https://www.tripendy.com/location/festival-de-saint-céré)
