The Château de Maisons, built for René de Longueil and his wife, in the first half of the 17th century, has served Louis XIV as an inspiration for Versailles. It came into the royal hands of the Count of Artois, brother of Louis XVI and later King Charles X.
The Parisian banker Lafitte divided the estate into plots, but happily the French State saved it from demolition by acquisition in 1905. It is open to the public.
Château de Maisons is also a venue for film & photo shooting, cultural, corporate and private events, such as concerts, receptions, weddings...
