Circus Maximus was the first and largest stadium in ancient Rome (621 x 118 m) and could accommodate over 150.000 spectators. Today it is used as a park and a venue for concerts and meetings of all sorts.
It is located below the Palatine Hill with its Palace of the Emperors, so that the imperial household could view the events from the palace, whereas the public could buy their seats.
