Circus, Villa & Mausoleum Massenzio
Gardens & Parks, Monuments & Sites
Circus, Villa & Mausoleum Massenzio is a very well preserved complex, which was built for Emperor Maxentius (276 – 312). The mausoleum, which was probably meant to be for the emperor, was used his son Romulus, who died prematurely in 309 AD.
A very interesting discovery was done in 2006, when archaeologists found the imperial regalia, packed in wooded boxes. They are now restored and at the Museo Nazionale Romano, Palazzo Massime alle Terme.
