Jacques Necker, the powerful finance minister of Louis VXI and his daughter, the intellectual figure and writer Germaine de Staël are even today is remembered as one of the most important persons having lived in the Lake of Geneva area.

Mme. de Staël's brilliant mind, wit and well known spirit are still felt to linger on at the Château de Coppet with a collection of textiles, fine furniture, books, walls decorated with exceptional works and portraits.
