Farnese Gardens

Farnese Gardens were created by Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, the historic art collector, in 1550. They constituted the first private botanical gardens in Europe. Although too little remained, the gardens are still worth visiting, as did the Grand Tour travellers.

There is still 'a House of Pleasure' (Casino del Piacere), terraces, fountains, a water staircase...
