Floors Castle

Floors Castle is the seat of the Dukes of Roxburgh and was built in the 1720s by William Adam. The castle, with its famous art collections, the gardens and grounds, are open to the public.

In 1903, the 8th Duke married the American heiress Mary Goelet, who was one of the wealthiest American heiress, with a dowry of twenty million dollars. She brought with her own collection of art including a priceless series of 17th century Gobelins Manufactory tapestries and modern paintings such as by Walter Sickert and Henri Matisse.

The walled garden at Floors has herbaceous borders and a summerhouse built for Queen Victoria.

Floors is also a venue for film & photo shooting, outdoor, corporate and private events, such as receptions, weddings...
