It encompasses two large spaces (approximately 400m2) in a privately owned townhouse in Paris’ Marais district. For the past 25 years, it has predominantly showcased sculpture.

Today, this special affinity for sculpture leads to exhibitions of works by established artists such as Keith Sonnier, Fred Wilson, les Lalanne, Peter Kogler, Tony Oursler, Allan McCollum, and Niki de Saint Phalle, as well as by young, emerging artists such as the Chapuisat brothers, Mark Handforth, Jonah Freeman & Justin Lowe, Gary Webb, Rachel Feinstein.

In addition, the gallery is actively involved in representing established artists that the frantically-paced art market may have overlooked for a time, such as Edi Hila or Anne and Patrick Poirier, before rediscovering the profound quality their work.

Over the years, the galerie Mitterrand has indeed developed profound expertise in the field of monumental sculpture. This has been manifested around the world through exhibitions in public spaces, and occasionally in museums. It is for this reason that the gallery was called upon by the Universal Exhibition of Shanghai in 2010, the City of Luxembourg in 2007, and the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts in Taiwan in 1988 to organize group exhibitions (Dubuffet, Takis, Soto, César…) and solo shows (Keith Haring).

In 2015, Galerie Mitterrand opens the Domaine du Muy, a sculpture park composed of several dozen hectares of land in the South of France. The park was designed in collaboration with architect, India Mahdavi, and landscape architect, Louis Benech, and lays the foundations for a private venue in natural settings in France that is dedicated to international, contemporary sculpture. The inaugural exhibition is entrusted to Simon Lamunière who directed Art Basel Unlimited until 2012.
