Galerie Onrust was established in August 1986 by Milco Onrust on 627 Prinsengracht, Amsterdam. 
From its start the gallery program has had an emphasis on contemporary painting. In 1992 Boudi Eskens joined the gallery to run its second space on Planciusstraat which opened in the summer of that year. Apart from the artists the gallery represents we have made one or more exhibitions with the following artists: Paula van Ameijde, Curtis Anderson, Tim Ayres, Annemiek de Beer, Dick Bruna, Bülent Evren, Hermann Gabler, Reggy Gunn, Eberhard Havekost, Hilarius Hofstede, Alex Katz, Imi Knoebel, Rob van Koningsbruggen, Willi Kopf, Sol LeWitt, Andrei Roiter, Jo Schultheis, Joost Swarte, Günter Umberg, Jörg Wagner, Dirk Wiarda...
