Great Comp Garden
Castles & Country Houses, Event, Film & Wedding Hire, Gardens & Parks
The Manor of Great Comp was built in 1597 by Sir John Howell, as a large country house on a much older site. It has known many alterations, in particular in the 19th century. The Manor was bought in1957 by Eric and Joy Cameron, who wanted to create a great garden.
So they did, and could open their garden for the first time in 1968.
In order to preserve the garden for the future they set up a charity trust, ‘Great Comp Charitable Trust’, of which William Dyson is the current curator.
Great Comp Garden is also a venue for weddings.
