House at the Black Madonna

Monuments & Sites, Museums & Art Centres
The House at the Black Madonna, part of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, displays a permanent Czech Cubism exhibition, presented as a style that extends across fine art, applied art and architecture.

The exhibits showcase individual pieces of furniture and entire suites, together with furnishings and items made of ceramic, glass and metal.

In the interactive zone, visitors can sit in replicas of Cubist chairs.

The House at the Black Madonna was Prague’s first Cubist building. Originally a department store, it was designed by Josef Gočár and built in 1911–1912.
