House of World Cultures ("Haus der Kulturen der Welt") an international art centre for exhibitions, theatre, dance, lectures, music....It was a present from the US and built for the International Building Exhibition in 1957.
The architect was Hugh Stubbins, a former assistant of Gropius. In the Mirror Pont, in front of the entrance, stands the famous sculpture of Henry Moore the "Butterfly". It was sold by the Henry Moore Foundation to the city if Berlin for 4.5 mio DM in 1988.
