Hunting Museum & Agriculture Museum

Castles & Country Houses, Museums & Art Centres
The Hunting Museum and Agriculture Museum are part of The Universalmuseum Joanneum and both located in Stainz Castle (see separate page on Tripendy).

The Hunting Museum is dedicated to the long hunting tradition in Styria, and showcases hunting culture in all its facets. The exhibition touches on various epochs such as the Stone Age, the Baroque period, the Romantic epoch and modern times, all with a different understanding of hunting.

The Hunting Museum also serves as a competence center for hunting, offering training, seminars, a library and contemporary information media.

The Agricultural Museum at the Stainz Castle is dedicated to the past, present and future of agricultural work, with a collection of over 18.000 objects. The historic owner of Stainz, Archduke Johann (1782 – 1859), had strong ideas about the subject and founded in 1819 the k. k. Agricultural Society.
