International Bach Competition Leipzig

Music
International Bach Competition Leipzig, founded in 1950, is a biennial competition in honour of the famous composer, including masterclasses. It has six categories: Cello/Baroque Cello, Violin/Baroque Violin, Piano, Harpsicord, Organ and Voice.

The competition is organised by the Bach-Archiv in Leipzig.

Famous artists give master classes in preparation of the Competition.

The Christa Bach-Marschall Foundation awards a special price during the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition: a stipend for young musicians to take part in a master class. The decision about the award is made by the jury of the competition.

Every year, the Bach Festival invites young musicians who have successfully participated in music competitions.
