The foundation organises concerts and supports a variety of activities such as several competitions:

Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award. This award will assist six young singers with the winner also gaining a place in the prestigious Georg Solti Accademia in Tuscany Italy. 

Elizabeth Connell Prize: In memory of the late South African dramatic soprano Elizabeth Connell, this competition is to help assist the aspiring dramatic sopranos of the world. The competition is funded through a legacy left by Ms Connell which is administered by trustees and the Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge Foundation.

The Sydney Song Prize:  Promote the study and performance of Art Song.
