Konopiste Castle (German: Konopischt) once residence of Austrian Crown-Prince Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his morganatic wife and nowadays still fully furnished with a valuable collection, is open to the public.

The castle goes back to 1280 and got into the possession of the Archduke in 1887. He bought it with his inheritance from the last reigning Duke of Modena. It was an extensive property of 6.842 ha, including several industrial factories. He had it completely renovated together with the large 225 ha English-style park, with terraces, a rose garden and statues. The royal couple received twice the visit of the German Emperor, Wilhelm II.
