Castles & Country Houses, Museums & Art Centres
Krivoklat Castle, built in the 13th century and a former royal residence, hunting lodge and prison, is an important cultural monument of the country. It is open to the public and offers several types of tours.

The castle was in a serious condition towards the 19th century, but thanks to the von Fürstenberg family, it was then reconstructed and saved. The family kept the castle until 1929.

The castle has a lot to offer such as, the Royal and Knight Hall with an exhibition of Gothic paintings and sculptures, the Library containing over 52,000 volumes, the rich Fürstenberg museum and painting gallery, the notorious prison and torture chambers, the monumental great tower with hunting collections.
