Leonardslee Lake & Gardens
It dates back to 1801, when some 400 ha (988 acres) of the Aldridge estate were sold to Charles Beauclerk. He built a house and started to create the gardens and park.
The site was bought by William Egerton Hubbard in 1852, who, in turn, sold the house and gardens to his son-in-law, Sir Edmond Loder. Sir Edmond developed the gardens further.
When the Streeter family bought the estate in 2017, the gardens were heavily neglected. However they were determined to restore it to its former beauty and open it up to the public again.
In the meantime the first commercial Pinotage vineyard in the UK was planted at Leonardslee. The wine planting includes also a new vineyard at the nearby Mannings Health Golf & Wine estate.
Visitors can enjoy wine tasting experiences from the family wine estate in South Africa, with cheese or chocolate pairings.
