Madresfield Court

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Madresfield Court, has been the home of the Lygon family for 600 years and has passed only by hereritance since the 12th century. Today,  privately inhabited, the House, with its fascinating contents, and gardens, can be visited.

The last countess of Beauchamps, the widow of William Lygon, 8th Earl Beauchamps, gave it to the Elmley Foundation to preserve its traditional role as patron of the arts in the region, and is today the home of Rosalind, Lady Morrison, niece of the 8th and last Earl Beauchamp.

The house is an architectural masterpiece and played a significant part in nurturing the Arts and Crafts movement, as well as acting at least in part as the inspiration for Evelyn Waugh and Brideshead Revisited.
