Since 1964 the Flanders Festival Bruges organizes every year the famous International Competition Musica Antiqua, open to young, highly qualified performers from all over the world, who specialize in the historically informed performance practice.

The International Competitions Musica Antiqua are organised according to a fixed cycle in which the focus shifts between different instruments:

• 2019: focus pianoforte
• 2020: focus melody instruments
• 2021: focus harpsichord
