Marselisborg Palace

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Marselisborg Palace is the summer residence of the Queen Margrethe and her family. Only the park and gardens are open while the Queen and royal family are not in residence.

Marselisborg was a gift from the Jutlanders in 1896-1898, to the newly married crown prince couple, Prince Christian (X) and Princess Alexandrine, as a wedding present. As a part of the gift, the architect Hack Kampmann built (between 1899 and 1902), the present Marselisborg Palace.

The palace is surrounded by a 13 ha English landscape park (landscape architect L. Christian Diedrichsen), which contains a number of artworks, a rose garden and a herb garden.
