Museo delle Mura

Monuments & Sites, Museums & Art Centres
The Museo delle Mura, established in 1990, traces the history of the city's fortifications, from the royal and republican age ( 6th - 4th century BC), to those of Aureliano of the III. century, until the interventions of the nineteenth century.

The Porta Appia, better known as Porta S. Sebastiano, is one of the largest and best preserved of the Aurelian walls (3rd century AD). It opened onto the “Regina viarum” of the Roman road arteries, the Via Appia.
