The Museum of Military History (Herengeschichtliches Museum) is dedicated to the military and naval history of the Habsburg Monarchy from the end of the 16th century to the end of the monarchy in 1918, as well as the subsequent years up until 1945.
The historic museum building, dates from 1856 and was designed by the Danish architect Theophil Hansen. It is part of a large military complex, commissioned by Emperor Franz Joseph (1830 – 1916).
