Museum of Natural History of Siena, is part of the Siena Academy of Sciences and houses collections of natural and historical specimens, period instruments and curiosities. Located in a former Camaldolese monastery, the museum is organised in 4 main sections.
The sections are; Zoology, Geology, Anatomy and Botany. In addition, the museum includes curiosity cabinets in the Gabbrielli room, containing a great variety of curiosities and historical objects.
The building, the Camaldolese Monastery of the Rose, dates back to the 12th century and was made the seat of the Academy of Sciences by Napoleon in 1816.
