Musée Réattu

Monuments & Sites, Museums & Art Centres
Musée Réattu, created in 1868, contains a substantial collection of paintings and drawings by Jacques Réattu (1760, Arles – 1833, Arles), his former personal collections, mainly 17th century paintings, works from artists from his time, drawings by Picasso, donated by himself, sculptures and a substantial collection of photographs.

The museum, dating back to the 15th century, has been the former Grand Priory of the Order of Malta. During the Revolution the Order's properties were confiscated and sold off, whereas the building was acquired by Jacques Réattu, who lived and worked there.

Upon his death, his daughter sold the historic building, Réattu's work and collections to the city of Arles, in exchange for a pension.
