National Museum - Memorial to František Palacký and František Ladislav Rieger

Museums & Art Centres
The Memorial to František Palacký and František Ladislav Rieger, part of the National Museum and located in the flat where they lived, is focusing on the original living and working environment of these important political personalities of the 19th Century.

František Palacký (1798–1876) was a Czech historian, politician, and the most influential person of the Czech National Rivival. He is considered as one of the "Fathers of the Nation".

František Ladislav Rieger (1818 – 1903) was a Czech politician and publicist, also famous for his leadership of the early Czech nationalist movement. In 1853 Rieger married Marie Palacká, the daughter of his close friend and political associate from the assembly, František Palacký.

At the present time, we can see Palacký’s study, salon, ante-room and a smaller room with the ethnographic collections of Libuše Bráfová, Palacký’s granddaughter.
