National Trust Hare Hill

Gardens & Parks
National Trust Hare Hill is a garden, separated from Hare Hill Hall , which is in private hands. The hall was sold by the National Trust, in order to finance the running of the garden. The house, a Georgian mansion was built around 1800 and became property of the Brocklehurst family mid 19th century.

The garden was developed by the last member of the Brocklehurst family living at Hare Hill Hall, Col. Charles Brocklehurst, until his death in 1981. He was advised by the plantsman James Russell.

The wooded garden contains a great variety of rhododendrons, azaleas, hollies and hostas, whereas the walled garden contains white perennial borders, sculptures and a pergola.
