Nottingham Castle, dating back to the Middle-Ages, a former Royal residence, a former Ducal Mansion (built by Henry Cavendish, 2nd Duke of Newcastle), became a museum and art gallery already in 1878.
It includes the File Art Painting Collection, the Alabaster Collection, the Saltglaze Collection and the Ballantyne Collection.
