Pavillon de Vendôme

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
Pavillon de Vendôme, now a museum, was built between 1665 and 1667 for Louis, Duke of Vendôme, as a meeting-place with his lover Lucrète de Forbin Solliés.

It is surrounded by a late-renaissance garden, with a central pool.

Early 20th century it was acquired by a Swiss art collector, painter and poet, Henri Bobler, who donated the house and its collections to the city of Aix-en-Provence after his death.

The museum with collections of paintings and furniture also hosts temporary expositions of Modern and Contemporary Art.
