The Pergamon Museum, being one of the five museums forming the "Museum Insel" (Museum Island), is world famous for its archaeological holdings. The Pergamon contains three museums in one; the Collection of Classical Antiquities (also on display in the Old Museum), the Museum of the Ancient Near East, and the Museum of Islamic Art.
The museum holds stunning highlights such as bright blue glazed-brick Ishtar Gate of Babylon from 6th century BC, and the 2nd century BC Pergamon Altar, which is considered a Hellenistic masterpiece.
