Monuments & Sites, Museums & Art Centres
The Picasso Museum in Barcelona, opened in 1963, is dedicated to the work of Pablo Picasso (1881 – 1973), and houses one of the most extensive and complete collections of the artist. The permanent collection consists of over 4,200 works by him.

The artist donated himself the complete series Las Meninas (1957) which consists of 58 paintings, in memory of his friend and secretary Sabatés, who was at the creation of the museum by donating an extensive collection to the city of Barcelona.

The museum is housed in the converted Palacio de Berenguer d'Aguilar, a 15th century city palace.
