Provost Skene's House, today part of the AAGM (Aberdeen Archives, Gallery & Museums), tells the story of the life and achievements of inspirational people from Aberdeen and North East Scotland.
The house was built around 1545 and is an interesting example of Aberdeen's medieval burgh architecture. It is named after Sir George Skene of Fintray (1619–1708), who is thought to have commissioned the carved plaster ceilings.
