The Red House & Garden
Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
The Red House is one of the earliest and finest examples of the Arts & Crafts style. It was built in 1859 for William Morris, and designed by Philip Webb. It contains the original features and furniture, such as embroidery and glass-paintings from Janey and Bessie Burden, and the Pre-Raphaelite painter Burne-Jones, respectively.
In 2002 the house was acquired by the National Trust.
