Museums & Art Centres
The Rijksmuseum, known as 'het Rijks', is one of the finest museums in the world, not at the least thanks to the art of the 'Dutch Golden Age', with Rembrandt van Rijn at the top. The 'Dutch Golden Age' collection alone contains over 2000 paintings.

In addition to the 'Dutch Golden Age' collection, the Rijksmuseum has much more to offer through its dedication to the Dutch history, arts and crafts from the 13th to the 21st centuries, represented by an ever growing collection of around one million objects.

The building was opened in 1885 and designed by the architect Pierre Cuypers, whereas it has been completely reconstructed early 21st century and reopened in 2013 by Queen Beatrix.
