Saint Bavo's Cathedral Ghent

The Saint Bavo's Cathedral Ghent is not only the seat of the diocese of Ghent, but is world famous for its important art works. The most well-known is 'The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb' by the brothers Hubert (c. 1385/90 – 1426) and Jan van Eyck (c.  before 1390 – 1441), which has been restored recently.

Among other master works you can admire are the 'Saint Bavo enters the Convent at Ghent' by the painter and diplomat Peter Paul Rubens (1577 – 1640), the 14 panels by Frans Pourbus the Elder (1545 – 1581), representing the 'History of Saint Andrew, as well as his Triptych of Viglius van Aytta van Zichem, the Dutch statesman of Emperor Charles V, Philip II and Margaret, Duchess of Parma.

In addition you can see works of Casper de Crayer, Antoon van den Heuvel, Lucas van Uden, Jan van Cleef...
