Schloss Veitshöchheim

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Schloss Veitshöchheim was build as a summer palace of the Würzburg Prince-Bishops in the second half of the 17th century and was enlarged in the 18th century by Balthasar Neumann. It has a famous Rococo garden.

The rooms, furnished in 1810 for Grand Duke Ferdinand of Tuscany with their rare paper wall-coverings, can only be visited by guided tour.

The garden, a magnificent creation with lakes and waterworks has over 200 sandstone sculptures of gods, animals and allegorical figures by the court sculptors Ferdinand Tietz and Johann Peter Wagner. It dates from the reign of Prince-Bishop Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim (1755-1779)

On the ground floor of the palace an exhibition on the history of Veitshöchheim Court Garden is on display.
