Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar is focused on the history art and cultural history of Alkmaar and its region. From Alkmaar's Golden Age the visitors can admire the Old Masters, furniture, fine silver and seventeenth-century glassware.
There are the finest works by Old Masters like Jacob Cornelisz van Oostsanen, Maarten van Heemskerck, Pieter Jansz Saenredam and Caesar van Everdingen.
The Bergen School is represented by the permanent exhibition with artists like Charley Toorop, Leo Gestel, Arnout Colnot, and Piet and Matthieu Wiegman.
